New products and partnerships produced prime pageview peaks this past week on ODT’s website.

Foundation Surgical, Regenity Biosciences, and Johnson & Johnson MedTech attracted digital visitors with new tech/product news, while Smith+Nephew and RTI Surgical followed suit with their respective collaboration announcements.

Foundation Surgical topped the week’s popularity list with the FDA 510(k) clearance of its Interwedge Standalone Lateral Interbody System. Used in conjunction with the company’s new LLIF180 procedure, the Interwedge Standalone system represents a significant innovation in lateral spinal surgery, according to the company. LLIF180 is the first bilateral-fixated standalone-lateral procedure performed through a single-position lateral or oblique-lateral lumbar spine approach. The LLIF180 procedure’s bilateral fixation is made possible by the Interwedge system’s novel deployable staple.

Regenity Biosciences the the runner-up traffic driver, scoring well for gaining FDA 510(k) clearance for RejuvaKnee, a minimally invasive, collagen-based meniscal implant to reinforce and repair soft tissue injuries of the meniscus. The natural bovine-derived collagen RejuvaKnee implant facilitates host tissue ingrowth and repair of damaged or injured meniscal tissue.

Johnson & Johnson MedTech, meanwhile, garnered reader interest by launching the first commercialization phase for its VOLT Variable Angle Optimized Locking Technology Plating System, designed to improve stability, enhance performance and increase efficiency. In addition to its locking technology, the VOLT Plating System offers an expanded range of plate shapes, lengths, and screw lengths to accommodate different fracture reduction and fixation needs. The implants are designed to minimize prominence to reduce the risk of soft tissue irritation.

Partnerships of interest to ODT loyalists included RTI’s purchase of Collagen Solutions, a supplier of engineered medical grade collagen and xenograft tissue; and Smith+Nephew’s co-marketing agreement with JointVue for its OrthoSonic 3D surgery planning technology.
