OrthoSensor Inc. Adds New Board Member

Healthcare law pioneer joins Florida-based company.

OrthoSensor Inc. has a new board member. Steven B. Epstein, a senior member of the law firm Epstein Becker & Green, P.C., has joined the company’s eight-member Board of Directors. Founded in 1973, Epstein Becker is considered one of the country’s leading healthcare law firms, employing more than 250 lawyers in nine offices throughout the United States.

Epstein has served as a legal consultant to the Health Maintenance Organization Service, Health Services and Mental Health Administration, and U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Chambers USA has referred to him as the “father of the healthcare [legal] industry” and has ranked Epstein among the top healthcare leaders in his field.

“We are extremely pleased to appoint Steven to our Board of Directors,” Board Chairman Martin Roche, M.D., said. “His deep experience responding to the rapidly changing American healthcare system will be extremely valuable to OrthoSensor as we continue to execute on our strategic growth plans and leverage our technologies to positively impact orthopaedics and healthcare.”

A graduate of Columbia Law School, Epstein currently chairs the Columbia Law School Board of Visitors. Epstein graduated from Tufts University, and served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Tufts from 1999 to 2009. He currently is a Director Emeritus there.

Based in Sunrise, Fla., OrthoSensor develops and commercializes intelligent orthopaedic devices that provide real-time data to surgeons and hospitals during and after surgery. OrthoSensor’s intelligent orthopaedic devices use advanced sensor and wireless communication technology to enhance surgical implantation and remotely monitor devices while inside the body.
