Voom Medical Devices Founder/CEO Dr. Neal Blitz, DPM, has been chosen to serve the New York City Police Department (NYPD) as an honorary police surgeon. As such, Dr. Blitz will care for NYPD officers using his expertise in foot and ankle medicine—from trauma and reconstructive surgery to the most advanced minimally invasive solutions.

NYPD Commissioner Thomas G. Donlon and Supervising Chief Surgeon Dr. Eli J. Kleinman, M.D., presided over a recent swearing-in ceremony, and spoke to the critical role that honorary police surgeons play in maintaining the health of NYPD officers and families—particularly officers injured in the line of duty.

“As a New York City native, I’ve treated many police officers and NYPD personnel throughout my career,” Dr. Blitz said. “I’m thrilled to serve the NYPD and greater NYC community as an honorary police Surgeon.”

Blitz joins a team of physicians across a broad array of disciplines, all of whom were selected for their clinical expertise as well as their support for the NYPD and dedication to the community.

Dr. Blitz maintains a private practice on Fifth Avenue, in the heart of midtown. He was born and raised in New York City, and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree cum laude from New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Blitz has held important leadership roles with the NYC metropolitan area since 2008, first as chief of Foot Surgery and associate chairman of Orthopedics in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, then through his private practice starting in 2012.

Through his deep roots and reputation in the global medical community, Dr. Blitz has helped expand New Yorkers’ access to the latest, most innovative foot and ankle care. “I have the highest respect for the NYPD’s rigorous training and ability to make split-second, high-stakes decisions with surgical precision,” he commented. “They think on their feet, literally, and I’m honored to help keep those feet as healthy as possible.”

A leading pioneer in minimally invasive bunion surgery, Dr. Blitz created the patent-pending Bunionplasty procedure and patented Revcon Anchor Single Screw implant. In 2017, he founded Voom Medical Devices Inc., and serves as the company’s CEO, with a focus on advancing the standard of patient care and increasing access to clinical innovations in the foot and ankle space.

Unlike other surgical bunion correction methods, the minimally invasive, fusion-free Bunionplasty 360 Bunion Repair approach permits bone realignment from all angles, all planes, and all dimensions at all times. The procedure offers surgeons a more refined approach, one that may be used in treating bunions of all sizes and severities, according to the company. It represents a profound advancement over approaches designated “3D” or “4D” in that it corrects the true cause of bunions by realigning the big toe joint through first metatarsal regeneration rather than unnecessarily and permanently fusing an otherwise healthy midfoot.

Voom Medical Devices specializes in solutions for minimally invasive bunion surgery (MIBS).
