NASS News: ATEC Releases Expandable Tech for Medialized Posterior Procedure

Alphatec (ATEC) will introduce its new expandable interbody and access technology at this year’s North American Spine Society (NASS) annual meeting.
 
The tech is designed to enhance the medialized minimally invasive (MIS) posterior approach, minimizing muscle morbidity and blood loss to bring about shorter hospital stays and quicker recoveries.
 
Pat Miles, ATEC chairman and CEO, told the press, “The goals of spine surgery are decompression, stabilization and alignment. ATEC’s MIS medialized approach has been designed to fulfill these clinical requirements while minimizing morbidity.”
 
ATEC’s MIS medialized approach combines elegant access and expandable implant tech with ATEC’s InVictus fixation system. The Sigma Medialized Access System has been architected for customized exposure.
 
The PSX expandable interbody implant system can improve sagittal correction and simplify insertion thanks to a design that promotes precise lordosis control and disc height restoration.
 
Antoine Tohmeh, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon at MultiCare Rockwood Northpoint Specialty Center in Spokane, Wash., shared, “I’ve had great patient outcomes utilizing the PSX Expandable Implant System in surgeries that include L5/S1. When I fully release the spine and expand the PSX implant, I can better achieve my alignment goals.”

The company will also introduce its innovation to improve lateral surgery at this year’s NASS meeting.
