PathKeeper Surgical received FDA 510(k) clearance for its PathKeeper 3D optical navigation system, which is designed to replace traditional navigation technology with a 3D optical navigation system.
The PathKeeper system offers real-time, active, independent tracking of patient anatomy and surgical instruments, and accuracy of implementation to less than a millimeter. With more efficient surgical workflow, elimination of radiation exposure during the surgical procedure, and a more economical price, both ambulatory-surgical center operating rooms and hospitals can incorporate this new technology.
CEO and Founder Erez Lampert commented, “We are excited to reach this important milestone for PathKeeper and the company. We are now able to focus to commercialization in the United States to make the PathKeeper available to all spine surgeons and their patients.”
“There is a definite need for a new navigation system that is adaptable and easily integrated into operating room,“ explained Tushar Patel M.D. “PathKeeper took that challenge and created a spine navigation system that is easily operated, offers real-time tracking, and eliminated radiation exposure during the procedure. This is the new standard of care.”
PathKeeper Surgical is a privately held, Israel-based, medical technology company. Its PathKeeper device is a 3D optical navigations system that keeps the surgical ‘path’ on course throughout surgery.
