Boston Scientific Corp. has obtained CE Mark Approval for the Clik Anchor, part of the Precision Plus Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) System, a rechargeable device indicated for chronic pain management.
“The Clik Anchor is easy to use,” Kilment Gatzinsky, M.D. of Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Götebord, Sweden, said of the device, which locks into place on the lead by turning a hex wrench, providing tactile and audible confirmation that it is secure. “I appreciate its separate locking mechanism using the hex wrench, in addition to fixating sutures designed to improve lead anchoring and stability.” Gatzinsky is the first physician in Europe to evaluate the anchor operatively.
The Precision Plus SCS System is powered by SmoothWave technology, which independently delivers controlled pulses of electricity through SCS leads. The anchor serves to limit lead migration, which has frequently been cited as a primary complication in SCS procedures.
“With European approval and launch of the Clik Anchor, we have added six new products to our Neuromodulation portfolio in the past year,” said Michael Onuscheck, senior vice president and president of Boston Scientific’s Neuromodulation Division. “The Clik Anchor compliments our SCS leads portfolio, which gives physicians the most comprehensive array of percutaneous lead options in the market.”
Boston Scientific is headquartered in Natick, Mass.
