Tyber Medical LLC, a Morristown, N.J.-based developer of spinal and orthopedic devices, has received CE Mark approval for its TyPEEK, a titanium plasma sprayed PEEK (polyetheretherketone) interbody system.
The highly-differentiated proprietary titanium plasma sprayed TyPEEK offers benefits of bone growth with titanium along with the modulus and the post-operative imaging characteristics of PEEK.
The TyPEEK interbody fusion devices include configurations for anterior cervical, anterior lumbar, posterior lumbar, oblique lumbar, transforaminal lumbar, and direct lateral interbody spacers, and are designed for situations in which PEEK alone may not provide the best setting for fusion. TyPEEK, according to the privately held firm, provides a new solution for fusion procedures by combining the properties of a titanium plasma spray with the modulus of PEEK.The proprietary highly roughened surface may provide a more favorable environment for early stability and the potential to promote intimate osseointegration between bone and implant.
Tyber Medical CEO Jeff Tyber noted the Tyber Medical Interbody portfolio offers the company's customers immediate access to a regulatory approved system, ranging from economical non-sterile PEEK to its highly differentiated proprietary titanium plasma sprayed TyPEEK.
"The Tyber Medical Interbody portfolio offers our customers immediate access to a regulatory approved system, ranging from economical non-sterile PEEK to our highly differentiated proprietary Titanium Plasma Sprayed TyPEEK,"he said. "We are excited to give the versatility and customization of choice back to our customer, with the option to purchase a full system solution or an a la cart selection; trays, instrument or implant."
