Cayenne Medical Inc. has launched its Surelock All-Suture Anchor system for surgeries involving the shoulder and extremities. The Surelock system is touted to provide strong, predictable fixation through a novel, inserter-controlled deployment method. The delivery is designed to eliminate manual tensioning that can lead to partial deployment, anchor pull-out, or anchor displacement (also commonly know as anchor “creep”). Surelock keeps the creep out of all-suture anchor fixation by consistently deploying the anchor beneath the cortex.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted 510(k) clearance to the system in December last year.
“Cayenne Medical has seen great clinical success with the Surelock All-Suture Anchor system since its limited market release earlier this year, and we are excited to announce a full market launch which allows us to open up domestic and international markets,” said Dave Springer, president and CEO of Cayenne Medical. “We are delighted that many surgeons have embraced the reliable technology of our innovative all-suture anchor, which builds upon our best-in-class soft tissue repair solutions for the knee, shoulder and extremities.”
The Surelock All-Suture Anchor is composed of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) suture and is available in 1.4 mm (single loaded) and 2.2mm (double loaded) sizes. Surelock requires a smaller pilot hole compared to traditional anchors, minimizing bone removal and decreasing the overall anchor footprint, while still providing superior strength. The Surelock delivery system is designed to provide a consistent, reproducible technique to eliminate the inconsistency seen with other all-suture anchors on the market.
“The SureLock Anchor provides excellent stability immediately upon deployment without the worry of anchor creep commonly seen with other all-suture anchors,” said Andrew Willis, M.D., of Tri-County Orthopedics, Morristown, N.J. “This superior product delivers the reliability and strength of a traditional suture anchor, yet has the advantages of an all-suture anchor construct. The SureLock System is the next generation of all-suture anchor fixation because it brings you the best of both worlds.”
