Cutting Edge Spine (CES) has expanded its executive team, hiring J.D. Williams as its national sales manager.
Williams will apply his 28 years of experience with orthopedic devices in various ways at CES, including growing and managing its distribution network throughout the United States, negotiating contracts with group purchasing organizations and helping product development and clinical studies.
“I am proud to welcome J.D. to the CES team,” said Randy Roof, president and co-founder. “With the launch of the first PEEK-OPTIMA HA enhanced lumbar interbodies in the U.S., the EVOS-HA, we are experiencing exceptional growth. J.D.’s expertise will help us build upon our forward momentum while enabling us to maintain the highest level of customer service.”
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared the EVOS-HA in July. CES executives claim the EVOS-HA is the first Hydroxyapatite-enhanced PEEK Lumbar Interbody system in the United States to be cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The material -- developed by Invibio Biomaterial Solutions -- has similar mechanical properties to PEEK-OPTIMA Natural and a modulus similar to cortical bone. The introduction of Hydroxyapatite, which is fully integrated into the PEEK-OPTIMA Natural grade, provides a complete homogenous compound that ensures HA is present on all device surfaces. Like PEEK-OPTIMA Natural, the version enhanced with Hydroxyapatite is radiolucent, allowing visualization of the fusion mass, and is fully biocompatible.
“It’s exciting to be part of such a customer-centric organization and to help our distribution network take full advantage of the opportunities that our new technologies provide,” said Williams. “CES’ new interbody system, with hydroxyapatite impregnated into the PEEK-OPTIMA, is truly revolutionary. I am very proud to have the opportunity to make our technologies available to the healthcare community.”
