Hamburg, Germany-based BSN Medical GmbH, an integrated medical therapy provider, is showcasing a new, expanded line of Actimove orthopedic supports and bracing products for patients, at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) 2016 Annual Meeting, March 1-5, in Orlando, Fla.
In addition, BSN is launching the Actimove Rhizo Forte thumb brace, a novel low profile brace for osteoarthritis (OA) of the thumb. In a biomechanical study of 18 female subjects diagnosed with thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) OA and comparing four different thumb orthoses, the Rhizo Forte demonstrated the best compromise of stability and functionality overall.
“Our new flagship line of Actimove products build upon the proven benefits of our comprehensive portfolio of innovative solutions designed for the effective management, treatment and care of patients,” said Todd Healy, president of North America for BSN medical. “Showcasing new products at the world’s largest medical association meeting of musculoskeletal specialists, ensures that leading orthopedic surgeons and allied health professionals are immediately made aware of our latest advancements in orthopedic medicine that meet the multiple needs of their patients.”
The company is presenting its new Actimove functional knee braces (FKB) for the treatment of combined ligament instabilities; pre- and post-surgical use; conservative treatment of ligamentous injuries or deficiencies; and prophylactic bracing for athletic activities. The new FKBs are available in four styles including the advanced dynamic thigh cuff, enabling patients to have better thigh contact through the full range of knee motion.
BSN is also showing a new line of osteoarthritic knee bracing for patients with unicompartmental osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee, or concurrent ligamentous instabilities.
Additionally, BSN will showcase its full suite of fracture management and physiotherapy products, and demonstrate some of the newest innovations in water resistant casting and functional cast therapy, as well as the latest in total contact casting for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers, in its booth (#1209).
