The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), a global leader in orthopedic surgical education, is announcing the forthcoming launch of JAAOS: Global Research & Reviews. The new online-only journal will serve as an open access companion title to the most read1 journal by orthopedic surgeons, Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS).
"The AAOS has been committed to providing excellence in orthopedic education on the world stage for many years, and the demand for AAOS products and services on an international level continues to grow. We have dozens of agents and distributors in more than 85 countries representing AAOS," said AAOS president Gerald R. Williams Jr., MD. "JAAOS Global Research & Reviews is a natural extension of our efforts. While encouraging submissions from everywhere, the journal will place a particular emphasis on content that originates outside North America, and on articles that may be especially of interest to international readers."
JAAOS: Global Research & Reviews will critically evaluate and synthesize up-to-date information on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, reflecting the current state of orthopedic practice and patient care. The journal intends to publish review articles, research articles and clinical trials, surgical techniques, case reports, and commentary for the benefit of orthopedic surgeons at all levels of their careers, from residency on, as well as orthopedic researchers and healthcare professionals with an interest in orthopedics.
The journal will be under the leadership of William N. Levine, MD., Editor-in-Chief, Jeffrey S. Fischgrund, MD., Research Editor, and the entire editorial board of JAAOS. All submitted manuscripts will undergo the same rigorous peer review and strong ethical standards, which have helped maintain the standing of JAAOS as a top world journal in orthopedics2.
