New products, new research, and a new purchase proved most popular this past week on the ODT website.
The new research came courtesy of North American Spine Society members, while the new products originated with THINK Surgical and Expanding Innovations.
THINK Surgical's new product was the TMINI miniature robotic system, which gained special FDA 510(k) clearance this week for use with implants from three more manufacturers. The clearance adds the following new knee implants to TMINI’s open implant library and THINK’s Implant Data Hub (ID-HUB): Klassic knee system, Total Joint Orthopedics; Balanced Knee System (BKS) and BSK TriMax knee system, Ortho Development Corp.; and U2 knee, United Orthopedic Corp. ID-HUB provides a proprietary data bank of implant modules for use with TMINI.
Expanding Innovations, meanwhile, launched of its X-PAC Expandable Lateral Cage System (X-PAC LLIF), the first in a series of planned commercial releases designed to expand the company’s non-screw based Expandable Cage technology.
Xtant Medical provided the only non-research, non-new product-related news by acquiring the nanOss production operations from RTI Surgical. The company acquired equipment and inventory used in RTI’s synthetic bone graft business, and assumed the lease from RTI for the Greenville, N.C., nanOss production facility. Xtant had previously acquired nanOss distribution rights and IP when it purchased Surgalign’s assets related to biologics and spinal fixation in August 2023.
