Paragon 28 announced the release of its new JAWS Great White Staple System, developed to provide for increased strength and stability of the osteotomy or fusion site compared to traditional staple systems.
The staples consist of an ultra-low-profile bridge with an increased surface area to enhance stability and minimize soft tissue irritation. They provide a uniform compression profile and a 169% increased compressive force when compared to the average two-prong, nitinol staple.
In conjunction with the inserter, the shoulders of the staple allow the staple to be fully sealed prior to compression activation which limits the need to tamp. The JAWS system also has 400 times the fatigue life when compared to a competitive nitinol staple with the same load parameters.
