Catalyst OrthoScience Inc. (Catalyst) has appointed Amy Ables, Ph.D., as chief strategy officer.
“The board and I are excited to have an executive with Dr. Ables’ experience and leadership join our team at Catalyst OrthoScience,” Catalyst President/CEO Carl O’Connell said. “We are committed to building an organization focused on our customer’s success and our market impact. Dr. Ables’ leadership will help make that vision a reality, guiding us as we build greater proficiency and organizational competency to accelerate growth and scale our operations.”
Ables has nearly 20 years of medical device experience, spending more than half of that time in upper extremity orthopedics. She has held leadership roles in sales, marketing, medical education, and sales training at Tornier and Wright Medical before departing for ATEC spine. Most recently, Ables served as the vice president of Customer Engagement and Sales Excellence at Cutera, a medical aesthetics organization. Prior to Cutera and through the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ables was chief learning officer at Vyaire Medical, a global organization focused on respiratory care.
Throughout her career, Ables built a reputation as a strong leader focused on the customer, with an incomparable energy for continuous learning, strategy development and execution. Ables is a relatable leader driven to deliver results through team achievement.
Ables earned a bachelor of science degree in sports medicine from the University of Charleston, a master’s degree in biomechanics, and a Ph.D. in human performance from Texas Woman’s University in 2003.
“I am grateful and excited to embrace this opportunity with the Catalyst team and to return to my professional roots in shoulder orthopedics,” Ables stated. “I look forward to steering our efforts toward growth and excellence with strategies that are both responsive to the present and attune to the necessary investments for our future success.”
Naples, Fla.-based Catalyst OrthoScience was founded in 2014 by orthopedic surgeon Steven Goldberg, M.D., who realized the need to make shoulder replacements less invasive, less complicated, and more natural-feeling after surgery. Catalyst's total shoulder systems offer precision and accuracy in shoulder restoration while preserving the patient’s bone and soft tissue. Catalyst has a growing portfolio of patents and pending patents on its offerings, which are available throughout the United States.
