In her role at Pfizer, Dr. Puryear spearheaded leadership development, talent management, learning and development, employee engagement, organizational culture, diversity and inclusion and workforce analytics. Previously, Dr. Puryear served as chief talent officer at Hospira, a provider of injectable drugs and infusion technologies, which was acquired by Pfizer in 2015. During the acquisition, Dr. Puryear was a member of the integration team, focused on supporting employees through the transition and merging two corporate cultures.

Dr. Puryear’s leadership has been recognized with numerous honors, including 2017 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America and 2017 Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Business from Black Enterprise Magazine, the 2016 Trailblazer Award from the National Associate of African Americans in Human Resources, Illinois’ Most Powerful and Influential Women from the Illinois Diversity Council as well as the Learning In Practice Award from Chief Learning Officer Magazine, among many more. Dr. Puryear started her career as a finance professional for several real estate investment advisors, and has a bachelor of arts degre in psychology and organizational behavior from Yale, an MBA from Harvard Business School and a doctorate in organizational psychology.
